A lot of profiles are foreseen with holes. These holes are made in a punching unit. The punching principle which is used the most is start-stop. An alternative could be by means of a rotating punch.
Start-stop punching machines can be executed by means of hydraulic cylinders or excenter presses. The biggest disadvantage of this principle is the relative low speed, especially if you compare this with rotating punching. If the punching pattern permits rotating punching, the production speed could accelerate until well above the 100 m/min.
